A zelkova tree stump that once nurtured life. Upon this vessel rooted in the earth, I offer sake vessels that connect the divine, humanity, and memories from ancient times.
These vessels were born by incorporating soil from the walls of a former dwelling into washi paper, layered repeatedly with persimmon tannin and animal glue.
Traces of people's lives inscribed in the soil, the vitality of plants dwelling in the washi, the depth of time, the cycle of life. All these materials embody the principles of nature circulating through eternal time.
The sacred source of water and the deity enshrined in that forest. Through these sake vessels, we are given the opportunity for gods and humans to share the same blessings.

かつて命を育んだ欅の切り株。
その大地に根差した依り代に、神と人、そして古からの記憶を結ぶ酒器を奉納します。
この器は、かつての住居の壁土を和紙へと漉き込み、そこに柿渋と動物の膠を幾重にも塗り重ねて生まれた。
土に刻まれた人々の暮らしの痕跡、和紙に宿る植物の生命力、時間の深み、生命の環。
これら全ての素材が、悠久の時を経て巡りゆく自然の理（ことわり）を体現。
神聖なる水の源流と、その森に鎮座する神。
酒器を通して神と人が同じ恵みを分かち合う機会をいただく。

Ancient People in the Afterglow
While researching many materials about the legend of the “Pintree of Sunrise of Mutsu” and listening to the people of Hirono Town, the trajectory of the characters’ escape from hardship, wishes, and hope emerged in my mind. This story is a historical record of a specific era, and reflects the harsh reality of that time, but it also seems to reflect us living in the present day in a different form.
This work is a record of actual visits to places where the legend remains.
By combining a book with the image of a “pine tree” and a shimenawa rope created with the cooperation of Mr. Tadao and Ms. Akiko Suzuki, and Mr. Masahito Nemoto, I expressed my own interpretation of the “Pinetree of Sunrise.”
We will always experience difficult times in various situations, but as long as we live, bright times will come soon. I created this work with that wish in mind.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Masanori Suzuki, who told me his story, and to Mr. Yusuke Aoki and Mr. Yoshihiko Isobe of Platt Atto, who cooperated with me.

残照の古民
「日の出の松」の伝説について多くの資料を調べたり、広野町の方々の話を聞かせていただいたりしているうちに、私の中に登場人物たちの苦難からの脱出、願い、そして希望の軌跡が浮かび上がってきました。この物語は特定の時代の歴史的記録であり、当時の厳しい現実を映し出していますが、形を変えて現代に生きる私たちの姿をも映し出しているように感じられます。
本作品は、実際に伝承が残る場所を訪れて記録したものです。
「松」をイメージした本と、鈴木忠郎さん・晶子さん、根本賢仁さんのご協力のもとで制作したしめ縄を組み合わせることで、私なりの解釈による「奥州日之出の松」を表現しました。
私たちは、一時（いっとき）苦しい時間が必ず様々な場面でやって来ますが、生きてさえいればやがて明るい時がやってくることでしょう。その様な願いを込めて本作品を制作しました。
最後に、話を聞かせてくださった鈴木正範さん、また協力してくださった、ぷらっとあっと 青木裕介さん、磯辺吉彦さん、皆様に感謝を込めて。
